Fitness For All Ages

Whether you are 80 years old or 15 years old, physical activity is an important part of our physical and mental well being. As we get older, moving seems to get more difficult, but we cannot use that as an excuse to live a sedentary lifestyle.

So why should you stay active even when you think you are too old?

1. Reduce Risk of Various Diseases

Exercise has shown to lower the risk of a heart attack or stroke. Those that have heart disease, high cholesterol, arthritis, or diabetes can better manage these diseases through regular physical activity.

2. To Keep Up with Daily Activities

We were born to be independent beings. Most people like to be able to feed, bathe, dress, and do other similar tasks themselves. As we get older these things can become harder to do on our own. Exercise allows the body to stay in a state to be able to do them ourselves.

3. Prevent Falls

Staying active will keep your muscles and bones strong, plus increase your balance. All of these things will help decrease your risk of falling.

No matter what your age physical activity can help keep you going! Make sure to include some sort of exercise into your daily routine. This can be walking around your house to get more steps in, standing and sitting down from your chair as you watch tv, or anything that gets you moving.
