Treat Yourself with Massages - PTfit Daily

Holy Smokes!

 

Yesterday, my fiance Katlyn and I had a full body one-hour massage. 

 

Needless to say, I very much needed the massage. It wasn't a deep tissue massage by any means. But it really showed where the pressured spots and knots were located in my body. Since it was my first one, I went with the 'lighter massage'. I do not remember what that term is called, ha. 

 

I want to put out there that I was nervous about this massage. Like, "...am I really paying for a complete stranger rub my body?". Needless to say, the person giving the massage was cool and she took the awkwardness away from the get go. 

 

 

Throughout this massage, I had some serious tightness and knots in my center of my thoracic spine and around my thumbs. 

 

Why those areas you may ask? 

 

Typically, the center of the back holds a lot of stress and we millennials have terrible posture. I would like to think I do not have much stress or poor posture. However, that shows that stress can come from something else. - > resistance training

 

For someone who squats, benches, and deadlifts moderate to heavy intensities for prolonged periods of time, I had some deep knots in my shoulder blade. Needless to say, they hurt. I was complimented on how much muscle mass I have while not having a lot of knots throughout my body. I credit that to proper exercise technique and my chiropractor.  

 

I knew I had those knots in my back. But I did not know how deep or severe they actually were. That is where a massage can come into play. If you are stressed or achy, get a massage. Bite the bullet and pay for a quality 30-minute massage. Some will say that it is too expensive, which I can agree. However! Think about the person giving the massage, do you want to massage someone for thirty minutes? That is hard work that reaps the beneficiary, you!

 

As for my thumbs, they are just super tight from gripping the barbell when squatting, benching, and deadlifting. #WhiteKnuckes!

 

Side Note: We had a gift for 30 minutes and paid for an extra 30 minutes. Well worth it.

 

...maybe ask for massages as gifts?? Just a thought! 

 

Health Tip: To ensure you treat yourself once in awhile, save 1 dollar per day and that should save up enough money for at least one thirty minute massage every two months. 

 

Going into this massage, I knew I needed it, I knew it would feel good. Until I was finally done, I didn't realize what I was missing out on.

 

Now from this point,  I could go on forever about how you should treat yourself and your body. As opposed to treating it like you know what.

 

I have learned over the last year that chiropractic care and now massages are something that we all need. Why not treat your body the natural way while being able to relax and let your mind escape reality. 


Stop popping advil, tylenol, and ibuprofen for your aches and pains. Go to a qualified healthcare professional and do something that will benefit you longer than twelve hours.
